Hurricane Sandy on Staten Island, NY – Day 2

Staten Island, NY – Midland Beach

Today I took the liberty to patrol the areas here on the Midland Beach neighborhood on Staten Island. I went out to visit the neighbors and offer some comfort and support. I went up and down avenues & streets to have a look for myself and get out of the funk and see what many others are saying and doing to keep it all together and collected. Many wanted to just vent and breathe, I was there to offer the support. Others were to broken up from all their loss, I too can relate. The one thing that really amazed me here in this town was how helpful everyone was with each other. Remember, I’m the new guy here in this family oriented neighborhood and I haven’t got to meet many at all since the new move from six months ago.
Today I walked around with the crew and shook hands with many business owners, families, city workers and more. I got to feel some friendliness and I also got some sarcasm but I made it known that I was there for support. You need a hot cup of coffee, some fresh water perhaps, charge your cell phones charged or even a hot meal you can find me a couple of blocks down on the deep end of the flood. Just ask for me, Jay Rodriguez. I’ll be there all day cleaning up my mess trying  to keep the neighborhood in tact and helping make sure everyone and anyone is okay.

Day two really brought a toll on me, but hey we can only keep going forward. It’s now time to clean up and start fresh again. Keep our town together and keep a look out for one another. Again, I share here a couple of more images from this Hurricane Sandy disaster. Some people asked me not to publish the images, others were grateful to share and help document this situation.
Please, if any of you have any resources that can help the others here on Staten Island please comment and share your information. I’m sure someone here on Midland Beach can benefit from something provided and help make things a little easier if possible!
